What benefits do employees really want? This is a question asked by many employers and getting it right can prove difficult. Organisations vary and in a competitive market are you offering benefits that align with your employees’ needs?

As an employer you need to listen to what your staff are saying. Priorities have changed and there are clear differences in benefits sought today, a change to what was prioritised in the past.

Traditional benefits have evolved to reflect the differing economic market which has in turn affected the life priorities of the employee.

There has been a clear show of hands that staff in today’s working world are prioritising the need for healthy pension contributions, health insurance, income protection, bonuses, childcare vouchers, working from home, flexible working hours, free parking and company cars/car allowances.

When employees are looking at the benefits offered by organisations, or at benefits that they do not currently have, this can be an influencing factor when considering a career move. There are still discrepancies in what employers are offering and what their staff really want.

Staff want benefits that really mean something to them, that benefit them in a financially challenging economy. Staff also place great value on work life balance and the shift in expectation post pandemic must not be underestimated. Value your employees, take the time to understand what you can do as an employer to meet their requirements and in turn be an employer of choice with a motivated workforce.
