Nail That Interview: Top Questions You’ll Be Asked and How to Ace Them
Read articleHow we need to look at today’s recruitment market is simple. The current mantra is, “the candidate has the control.” This shift in power has been in place for quite some time now and isn’t showing signs of reverting anytime soon; the business markets today continue to suffer from a talent shortage.
This means we as recruiters, and you as employers, need to be smart about attracting the right candidates. We need to be clear, look at and understand how the talent hunt.
Today’s talent are the web surfers and social media scrollers – technology is their best friend. They search for jobs like they would look for a new online purchase, connect through social media channels and utilise online presence- so how do we draw them in?
You need to grab their attention immediately. It is shown that when searching the web or social media for jobs most candidates view approximately a quarter of what they see and they tend not to read the fine print unless you get their attention in the first few seconds. The challenge for all of us is to stand out, and what you say in the opening lines of your talent-tempting scroll is more powerful that you think.
When you are looking for the right talent – you need to be thinking about WHO, HOW, WHERE, WHAT AND WHEN.
Think about WHO you want to attract, HOW you want to attract them, WHERE this talent will look, WHAT will set you apart from the rest and WHEN you are going to get the best exposure to this talent.
Investing a little time and thought can go a long way. Make sure you see through their eyes, use the right terminology to tempt your talent – altogether optimising your online appeal.
